Mount Saint John's mission is built on the gospel values of Catholic Social
Teaching. Our work is a ministry, not just a program, and we remain
committed to the development of the whole child: physical, mental, emotional
and spiritual. Spiritual development is a critical need for all of us, but
most especially for adolescents who have experienced trauma, fear, pain and
rejection on a daily basis and who are in placement far from home.
As part of the program, all boys attend a weekly moral/values psycho-spiritual group and are encouraged to participate in weekly services of their respective faiths. Evening prayer groups are held several times per month. Throughout the year the members of the Mount Saint John community gather in the chapel to celebrate religious holidays, including Christmas, Easter and Thanksgiving.
I’d like to pray for my grandparents and sister who are
dealing with troubles right now. I’d also like to pray for my friends
and their families, who have stuck up for me as well as put up with my nonsense.
I pray for the soldiers in Iraq who serve an die for us in the U.S. of A.
I pray for those residing in MSJ and their families. I pray for Will’s
father so he can get on the right track, and Will that he make it into college.
I pray for Albert for keeping his faith strong and Randy and BJ who are fathers
and that they realize their responsibility. I pray for faculty, for their
families and Mr. Springer, that he comes back to MSJ. In the name of Jesus
Christ I pray. Amen. - Matt from the boy's prayer journals,
