Ongoing training for MSJ staff is critical to the success of the boys in the program. Under the leadership of the training coordinator, a team of MSJ trainers facilitate a full menu of training, including First Aid and CPR to mandated reporter training. All staff with direct contact with the boys must complete the 40 hour STEP UP! Basic Training, based on the Boys Town Psycho-Educational Treatment Model (PEM) and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention skills training. Refereshers and special training sessions are routinely held for MSJ staff. The Director of Nursing is certified to provide the state-approved Medication Certicification training to MSJ staff and staff from other facilities.
